Very disappointing. The waitress flat out forgot one of our two entrees. And when the the first one arrived it was cold. When a burger, fries, and soda costs $14, you ought to get what you order, and it ought to be, as the sign by the door put it in large text, "fresh and hot." Seriously they had a poster decrying microwaves but served lukewarm food.

The selection of predefined burgers on the menu is extensive, but you can grab a sheet on the table and check off what you want to build your own custom masterpiece. The chipotle sauce adds quite a kick. The fries are not crispy, but they are delicious. The service has always been good for us. The desserts are tasty. They even have malts if you like them. Their gluten free menu is nice too. They'll make any burger bun-free and present it nicely in a bowl.

I had a solid experience here yesterday. I'm not a huge fan of their food (though it's decent), but their beer selection is great. So nice to see a chain (even if it is a local one), have so many Michigan beers available both on tap, and in bottles. I sat at the bar during lunch. Thanks to free wifi, I was able to get some work done, watch the Tigers and enjoy some delicious beer from Short's and Founders.

Never a disappointment when we stop by. I love how you can build your own burger and sides. Their drinks are home made too! It's really cute how the train goes by and all the history around the restaurant of the Ann Arbor area. The sweet potato chips are the best.

Good stuff at Bagger Dave's. Good beer and burgers, and the wait staff was quite friendly. What's a bit different about Bagger Dave's is their paper ordering for burgers and specialty fries -- you can choose to fill out a checklist with about fifty options to customize the perfect mess of a burger or heap of fries. We'll be back to BD's. Cool history on the walls as well. Oh yeah and the pretzel buns are the way to go.

I've been coming to Baggy Daves's for about 5 years now. I am shocked by their low Yelp rating. I can't believe it's taken me this long to review this burger staple. Outstanding burgers here! The meat is cooked to perfection and I appreciate loads of free toppings like grilled mushrooms, onions, peppers, jalapeños. It really beefs up your burger. I usually get a single plus all that free veg which is plenty filling for me. I think the fries as a separate cost is a huge PLUS. This way you can share fries if you want OR omit it if you're not that hungry. Yes it's an add on cost but it's actually a good deal because you only buy what you need. The burgers itself are very reasonably priced like $5-7. Plus they have TURKEY burgers and VEGGIE burgers- LOVE this when I'm trying to behave ;) Furthermore, the sweet potato chips and fries are delicious. Cut daily and fried fresh. OK, so what you get unlimited fries @ Red Robin.. they taste like garbage so what's the point, you know? I love the atmosphere too- nice friendly staff and love the choo-choo train theme. Trains are not just for kids, you know?! The servers are really nice. In fact, one time my power went out on the west side and the waitress offered us to-go sodas/water/ice for the ride home. That was very sweet and I appreciated it. Free tootsie rolls and a free burger on your bday and anniversary (coupon via email sign up). Great Happy Hour & Great selection of local Michigan beers!! Lastly, I will say that I do NOT enjoy chain restaurants like Chilli's so I was surprised to learn that this was a chain. But Bagger Dave's really tries to make you feel at home and they've done a good job with the local theme. Give this place a try- I'm glad I did!

Great burger place with great service...when they manage to get my order right. It's been hit or miss in the past, but they're getting better at it. ;)

A happy-go-lucky bartender, decent fries, and a handful of free Tootsie Rolls to end our dinner are what saved this establishment from a one star review (barely). The food was absolutely terrible, flavorless, and sloppy. The "artichoke dip" was anemic, and the only identifiable flavor came from the onions in a scoop of pico de gallo that resided on top. The tortilla chips that accompanied it were stale. I ordered a build-your-own burger for dinner. The toppings were slopped together, falling off the bun, and the "smoked gouda" was almost unrecognizable as a few nondescript shreds melted to near non-existence on top of the patty. What a FAIL in the food department! As I already mentioned, service was friendly (if not a little manic). Other pluses include a private parking lot, tvs, and good drink specials at happy hour.

I went in on a Sunday around 6. It was 20 minutes after seating before anyone acknowledged we were there. After an hour of waiting, my friend and I ended up walking out. In that hour, my water was begrudgingly refilled once by a waiter who made it clear we were not his table and it was not his job. One extra star for not being charged for the shake my friend ordered.

Love the concept of this place. It reminds me of The Counter for those SoCal and Bay Area folks - where you can eat your own custom made burger or choose from some specialty burgers. For efficiency they've started collecting your orders at the table with a palm pilot type device. This way it shoots your order to the kitchen right from the table so they don't have to memorize all these crazy custom orders, walk to the computer, and have something lost or messed up. I was excited to try the burger since I did customize mine. I basically built a royal red robin burger. Food was delivered lukewarm. Fried egg was cold. Bacon was overcooked. Which was all disappointing. You'd think those palm pilots would also inform the employee when the food was ready to be picked up :( Judging from other reviews and from reviews at other locations I left feeling like the place has potential. It's an okay deal for $12. May or May not be back.

Although my burger ended up being decent, it was a trial to get to that point. I ordered three different beers only to hear that they were out of all of them. Eric ordered a beer and definitely didn't get the correct one. If a restaurant is going to do a create your own burger and really push it, they need to make a concerted effort to get your custom order right. My burger came with 2 of the about 8 toppings I asked for and one of those was wrong. The server came back for it and they slopped a few pickles and some sautéed mushrooms and it still wasn't right but I ate it anyways. The one thing that was really good was the sriracha chicken on a pretzel bun but overall what a let down from the previous great experience we had before.

The first thing I want to make clear: one reviewer mentioned their menu has burgers and fries come as an automatic side. This is not the case (must have changed policy). A side of fries or chips is actually a whopping $3. The good news is that, at least with the fries, you should be able to split one order with a friend or date as you get pretty full on the burger. The fries are quite tasty, reminiscent of Five Guys. The burgers are also very good. I was shocked when a chain burger place actually served a burger cooked Medium instead of charred. The make your own burger menu is nice, expect to pay $8-10 per. With fries and a non-alcoholic drink, it is a pretty expensive burger joint at $15/person. When I go to Morton's The Steakhouse and get a burger for lunch, it's roughly the same price for a bigger burger and assuredly far better beef (unless Bagger Dave's has a meat grinder in the back I don't know about). Side note: I think the Bagger Daves brand-everything is a little strange. At first I thought it might be better quality, but after experiencing all the menu items they're clearly just trying to cut costs from using Coke brand drinks or Heinz brand ketchup. It's all still high-fructose corn syrup and tastes almost identical to national brands (I guess the latter part is a good thing). I also think it's odd they charge $0.50 for sauces. I mean that is pretty darn stingy. How much could one tiny sauce cup possibly cost? Two cents? I realize that's a tangent but nickel and diming just bothers me :) All in all its a good burger, which is the critical point. We'll be back in a pinch, though far from regulars as this isn't the best bang for your buck out there.

I went to this burger joint with Yelp and thought it wasn't too bad. My husband and I went recently again and realize it was all downhill from there. One of my biggest pet peeves is that you can't order your burger to temperature. What that means to me is that the meat isn't fresh. The waitress said medium well is the best they can do. Um..so they are all cooked the same? Yes. My husband ordered a beer and the waitress brought him a bottle of light beer and walked off. When she returned he mentioned that he didn't ask for light. I guess they only carry light in that brand so the beer went back. We always feel bad when something goes to waste so I really wish she had asked before assuming light was okay. The burgers did taste good in spite of their well done status. I also ordered a loaded French fry with bleu cheese, bacon, and some other buffalo type items on them. They sounded good on the menu. They were like eating a block of salt. I love fries but just couldn't eat them. The best part is there was no arguing or fussing about the bad food. It just came off the bill.

Whenever I go to Bagger Dave's I walk out thinking "Yep, there's no doubt about it...best burgers on earth!" A few months will go by, and I'll have burgers at other places, thinking they're just as good. Then I end up back at Bagger Daves and I realize I was wrong. Other places are not even close. Custom burgers, custom loaded fries, and an excellent local craft beer selection. What more can you ask for? A train running around the restaurant? Yep, they have that too.

The burger was okay, but the service was very slow. I called in an order to pickup, and they didn't start making it until I actually arrived. The person who placed a to-go order right in front of me in line received her order first, despite the fact that I called in my order about twenty minutes earlier. There are better burgers to be had and definitely not worth waiting around for.

This bagger Dave's is a great location, right down the street. The sweetest waitress there is Erin W. She always greets me with the biggest smile :-) I ordered the blues burger & sweet potatoe chips, yum yum.

YUM YUM YUM. love their custom burgers. Its like FIVE GUYS, but way more delicious and better toppings. Fries and sweet potato chips are great as well. Awesome variety of dipping sauces as well. Prices were fair. Had the chicken nachos appetizer. It was ok. The main course was much better. Will definitely come by again.

This place was touted to me to have amazing burgers. Further could be from the truth. If your in the mood for a burger, skip this place as you might was well be at an Applebee's. The only thing that keeps this place from a one star review is the fact they have a good local beer selection. Although they need to clean their tap lines.

I've been here twice, and I can't say I've been impressed either time. Service is fine; no problems there. It can get a little slow when it's busy (which is often) but it's nothing unreasonable. My lack of enthusiasm comes from the food. It's not bad by any means, but it doesn't leave any lasting expression. I've never left here thinking ,"I can't wait to come back!" I've tried a fairly typical beef burger with 1000 island dressing (or whatever "special sauce" name they have for it) as well as the buffalo turkey burger. Both burgers were kind of dry, and the sizes just don't work for me. I feel like a double burger is too big, but a single burger is too small, so the meat to bun ratio is no good. The size won't be an issue for everyone, of course. The buffalo sauce was fine (could have used more) but the 1000 island dressing was just strange. I'm normally a fan of it on burgers, but not here. I will say, I like the fries. I'm not a huge fan of fries to begin with, but I ate plenty here. I really do appreciate that they come with the burger. I know, I said I don't like fries, but I think it's weird that so many places around Ann Arbor make you pay extra to get a burger/sandwich with fries. I understand it for fast food, sure, but I always thought it was the norm at sit-down restaurants...

In theory this place seems promising. We ordered takeout and found out we were missing some things after it was too late. No cheese on my cheeseburger and a missing juice box for my kid's meal. The vegetables on my burger, romaine lettuce, "fresh" basil, and tomatoes, were very limp and looked like they should've been tossed last night. My turkey patty was pretty nasty looking. There was absolutely no char or color on it, it just looked gross and rubbery. My guess is that they pulled this out of the freezer. The sweet potato chips were good though!

Perfection in fresh fries, $2.60 Sunday kids meals, and the sinful brownie sundae Misses: The BD diet drink tastes odd to me, burger patties are thin and lack flavor (add lots of toppings to compensate). Just got back from another great meal...terrific service, family friendly, good value, and today the train had a couple hobos riding along in the boxcar!

  • Clint K.

Fries are great, but the burger meat needs salt seasoning...makes the burger taste bland. Five Guys is MUCH better.

Walked in and was greeted by the friendliest bartender I've ever encountered !! Ask for Zack, he's the best ... He recommended a burger with smoked Gouda cheese on a pretzel bun with honey mustard,,,, it was delicious!!!

Nice place. Did online order but system wouldn't allow me to order fries, I know weird. Went to pick up food, manager and cashier had no clue why but added them verbally. Get take out bag, head for door, take a look at food--drum roll--no fries are included. Go back and get the fries....not the end of the world but annoying. Will be back in the future but small details matter.

Wife and I came in. First timers. Nice looking place. Sharp. Well maintained. Their fries are really top notch. We got ours with honey mustard. Honey mustard also amazing and go great with fries. I thought my sweet potato chips were so so. Nothing special. The honey cinnamon sugar dipping sauce also just tasted like honey to me. My biggest disappointment comes with the burger...mine that is. My wife's turkey burger with buffalo sauce was quite tasty. I had one of their signatures though. The train wreck. It has onions a fried egg mushrooms and prime rib mixed into the beef. Can't go wrong right? Seriously the most bland burger I have ever had. How is that even possible with all this good stuff? They found a way. There is no way a spec of salt hit the meat. Big mistake. So alas I leave a burger bar semi disappointed because a premier burger got no love. I wouldn't not recommend this place but there are definitely better burger establishments one can go to in AA.

We decided to try this place because I had heard it was good and it was close to the mall. It also didn't seem as busy as some of the other restaurants in the area, and we were in a bit of a hurry. I was really excited to see they had chopped salads, so that's what I ordered, and my partner got a chicken sandwich. They provide "order forms" on your table so you can build your own sandwich. He filled it out, and then when we ordered he had to read it to the server because it was taking forever for her to look down at the form and then punch the button on the cool ordering device she had. Seems like there's no need for a form there, he just told her what he wanted and she left the form at our table. Then we waited a long time- about a half hour!- for our salad and sandwich. This seemed to be more of a problem with the kitchen than the server, who was attentive enough. When I got my chopped wedge salad the cherry tomatoes were wrinkly! Like shriveled! I've only been served tomatoes that looked like that before when they were roasted, and these definitely were not. I would have rather been told they were out of tomatoes than been served those, and it boggles my mind that someone who works in a kitchen would allow that to be served. I also got sweet potato chips hoping they would be more fry-like than chip-like, but they were very much chips, they were like the kind you buy in a bag. I wish they had at least been warm. My partner said his chicken sandwich was "good," and not much else, so a decent sandwich but nothing impressive. I almost forgot the handful of tootsie rolls that were dropped off with the check. There must have been at least 10 tootsie rolls for two adults. Maybe I'm the weird one, but it boggled my mind that you would just drop a handful of candy on the table. Two pieces of candy, sure. I just thought it was strange.

I freaking LOVE this place. I always sit in their bar section. Why? Because the bartender (I believe his name is Zach) is SO stinking nice. He remembers frequent patrons, is polite, personable, but doesn't overdo it. Food: I always make my own- usually buneless turkey burger topped with all sorts of veggies, blue cheese, horseradish & A1 sauce, and fried egg with sweet potato chips. YUMM. Once, he saw that I didn't check a cheese and pointed it out to me knowing that I always get cheese. How great is he?! The burger would NOT have been the same without blue cheese. The price is right, service is fantastic, and the food is wonderful. What's not to love?

Last night my gf and I stopped by to grab a bite to eat. My experience wasn't what I was expecting. First, it took forever to seat us. They weren't busy, but the hostess was sweeping the front room and said she didn't see or hear us walk in. That's funny cuz we walked right by the front windows which happened to be the room she was sweeping in. Plus we were talking when we walked in so she had to have heard us. Once seated I noticed that the menu had hairs on it. No biggie right? Then I used the restroom to wash my hands and the paper towel dispenser didn't work. There was a fruit fly flying around our food, then after the meal was finished I noticed lipstick on the glass I was drinking from. Granted I was drinking out of a straw, but still, there was lipstick on the rim of my glass. I then looked at my gfs glass and while there wasn't any lipstick present there, there were fine hairs (like fuzz) on the inside of her glass. Like if you used a new towel to dry them off with and they leave little fine fibers. Pretty gross. Needless to say I was not impressed. Our waitress was awesome, but she was the only one there waiting on the entire place and the service lacked because of it. I won't be back.

I attended my first Yelp event here....what a fun night! Met some cool people and had some tasty food. Would I come here again even if free eats were not being offered? You bet! Here's why: Loved the Michigan made soda pop. Had some traditional flavors like Lemon-Lime and Root Beer, but also some fun flavors. There is a mystery flavor each day. We tried it when we were there - Blueberry, Pomegranate and Acai...super tasty, not too sweet. Each table was served unlimited fries and sweet potato chips. I am a fry girl personally, but that's not to say the sweet potato chips weren't tasty. If you do get the chips make sure to try them with the honey cinnamon dipping sauce...they pair together nicely. Because it was a yelp event we were offered a turkey burger. The menu is divided into different sections - turkey burger, regular beef burgers or a build your own. If one of the regular burger toppings sounded good we could opt for that only as a turkey burger. They were so very accommodating! I actually opted for the vegetarian choice as I've been on a veggie burger kick lately. I was offered any of the topping choices from the turkey burger or the beef burger but stuck with the veggie burger as it was listed on the menu. It was very tasty, although a bit too spicy. Next time I will get the jalapenos on the side as they were a bit overpowering. The best part about the burger was the tortilla chips on the burger. Nice contrast in texture. Our swag bag came with lots of goodies, including a $5 off coupon. I've already told our friends that the next time we go out for burgers we are going to Bagger Dave's!! Special thanks to Annette J for organizing the event. And of course to the nice folks at Bagger Dave's for having us!

Hats off to Annette J. for creating another Elite event that brings together new and familiar faces! After missing out on the event at Bagger Dave's Berkley, I hopped at the dinner invitation for Ann Arbor. As I'm not familiar with the location, let me turn green with envy at the large parking lots and a conspicuously placed Whole Foods just across the street. Between the call of the salad bar and Bagger Dave's acai pomegranate pop, I am certain I would get little done. Bagger Dave's offered a chance to try any of their burgers with a turkey patty, an endless stream of piping hot fries, and one of their specialty handcrafted pops. The beau declared their orange cream the liquid equivalent of a creamsicle, whereas I went for their acai pomegranate "mystery flavour." Please make that mystery a regular menu item! The tart and sweet mix together for a refreshing treat on a warm evening. Bagger Dave's menu is large enough to accommodate varied tastes thanks to a build-your-own menu with almost too many topping options. Some fall into premium at an upcharge, worth comparing if you're considering specialty burgers. All entrees come with suggested wine and beer pairings, their emphasis being on craft brews from around the state. Sure beats a generic American on-tap. The best part of any official Yelp! get-together are the people, and this night was no exception. Our fellow diners regaled us with fantastic stories and opinions on the west 'burbs over fat, juicy burgers. I opted for my favourite, the Tuscan, piled with additional tomatoes, mushrooms, and basil. Really good stuff with a turkey burger, cooked evenly all the way through. The beau's build-your-own bacon and barbecue blessedly came without a tsunami of sticky sauce that might overwhelm the crisp bacon. Our excellent waiter (Alex, I think?) brought the burger at just the right temperature and provided on-point service. No sooner did our fries get low than he provided another. I never received my order of sweet potato fries, much to my woe, but he was catering to a whole section of us. Besides, those burger portions quashed the remaining room I had for any French fries. Most BDs follow a similar cozy layout with deep booths in dark hardwoods and tall bar tables. Large windows overlook the street to allow light in, and we spent over an hour and some talking with our tablemates. Despite having us all on one side, the ambiance never got too loud or intrusive with sports broadcasts. Score! Thanks to everyone at Bagger Dave's who put together this turkey burger showcase event and all the great Yelpers who made it so enjoyable. You know who you are.

Any burger joint that allows diners to go "a la Holstein" can't be all bad. This of course is the fried egg on top your turkey burger. Try the sautéed 'shrooms, sautéed onions and the pineapple slice - all freebees on the menu! The nice selection of local craft beers provides a great complement to the burgers. We continue to be impressed with the great value - burger and brew for ten bucks a head! We'll be back for the "good eats" at this comfortable and casual eatery.

Bagger Dave's was indeed A-Okay! The burgers were okay, the sides okay, the atmosphere okay (cute train running over your head). I appreciated the options for people who don't want regular burgers, but nothing really wowed me. I'm afraid I don't have much more to say than that. In sum: This seems like a fine place to go out with friends, but I really can't see myself returning unless I'm asked to go. There are just so many other exciting options in Ann Arbor, especially downtown.

  • Colleen Z.

Hate to do it but the quality of food is slipping at Bagger Dave's. Today, turkey burger was mushy and the sweet potato chips cold. The french fries were ok but just ok. My burger basically ended up being a call of mush. The best thing about my lunch today was the crisp dill pickle. The service was pretty good but BD's has always had good service. There are so many other choices for a good burger in town that unless BD's starts to serve a better meal then I am out. Too bad because it used to be my favorite!

I had first seen this place when I was out in Novi a few years back, but never actually tried it until recently. It was one of my co-workers' birthday, and she decided that she wanted to eat at Bagger Dave's. Since this was the closest location from the office, we came here. Now, I'm just reviewing this specific location, but I'm not sure how the others are. Maybe they are better? Well, anyway, we had a very large party (17 people!!!!!), so we made reservations. As we arrived during lunch hour, this place was PACKED. I mean, I didn't see the other room, but where we were at, EVERY TABLE WAS FILLED! Craziness. As soon as we sat down, I perused the menu, and saw that you fill out your order on this small sheet of paper. Essentially a checklist, there is a plethora of choices from sauces, to meats, to cheeses, to other toppings. Since I was still partaking in a vegetarian challenge with Husband, I went with the Veggie Black Bean burger. I added guacamole, mushrooms, onions, and mustard. Then to accompany it, I tried their sweet potato chips. It sounded like an interesting concept, and with the added persuasion from the birthday girl, I checked it off my list and off my order went! I didn't expect to have waited for over 45 minutes for my food. Granted that we had a large party, after 20 minutes, all of us were wondering what was going on. Our waitress didn't give us any update as to why it was taking so long, and as we looked around the dining room, we noticed that nobody else seemed to have been eating! lol I could only imagine how many burger patties were being fired up back there. Well, time kept on passing, and still, NO FOOD. :( Finally, after 50 minutes, we got our food, and not only were we starving, but mostly everybody had lukewarm to cold food. My sweet potato chips were good, but they were cold as heck. My black bean burger had nice flavor, but it was lukewarm to cold in temperature. Disappointing to say the least. But what topped it all off was that our waitress didn't say or do anything about it. She just shrugged it off and said, "oh. i see." I mean, WHO DOES THAT? None of us had the time to really say anything, with the exception of one, but truthfully, if I were there under any other condition, I would have either walked out or definitely flagged down the manager or something. This kind of stuff shouldn't be happening! Though my food was cold, and service could have definitely been better, I will come back here again another time during off hours. Perhaps then, it'll be better. And to be fair, I might try it at another location and then follow up with an update.

Bagger Dave's is a solid burger place. Not spectacular but a place I would come to visit again. The burger is solid, not great. The fries, very good, the shakes are close to great. Service was very friendly and the atmosphere is a good spot to grab a burger and watch a football game. Overall, I have has a better burger elsewhere but this place ain't too shabby.

Takeout service was slow, they told us 15-20 minutes and it was at least twice that. The Train Wreck burgers were pretty tasteless. Could not taste the egg or fries on it, and it was much smaller/smashed down than expected. The Twisted and Smoking Hot mac and cheese entree size was very small for the price, but tasted good. We will not go back based on what you get for your money, service and taste.

I'm surprised I forgot to review this place. Eaten here maybe a dozen times over the last couple of years. It's one of the best burger places in the area. They have a a bunch of different burger options on their menu, but of course the best is to create your own. You get a little paper card and pencil to check off the type of bun, patty, and ingredients you want. They recently got rid of their sweet adobo sauce which is unfortunate. That was the best sauce they had. Service is decent. They only lose points because they have forgotten to put the egg on my burger at least 3 times when I've checked off that I'd wanted an egg. But it's forgivable, because let's face it, you don't always need an egg on your burger. The sweet potato chips and fries are good, but they become soggy in like 5 minutes. They have a decent selection of beers to wash down your delicious burger. There is a little toy train that locomotes around the restaurant, which is fun.

  • Jim M.

Outstanding service and excellent food. I really like the craft root beer, but there are other craft sodas available as well, as craft beer. The design your own burger function allows you to make it just how you want it, and the sweet potato fries go great with anything you create. Try the honey mustard dipping sauce with the fries. This is how to do gourmet burgers right!

My husband, another male friend and I were at Bagger Dave's on Dec. 2, 2014. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. An experienced waitress, Stephanie, explained the menu since it was our first time there. She was extremely patient , knowledgeable, conversant, personable and dedicated. Stephanie had many suggestions on their "build-your-own burger. We ordered that way as well as straight off the menu. Our order was prepared to perfection as well as the chocolate malt that I ordered. We returned again on Dec. 4th with our adult daughter, her husband and their 3-yr. old daughter. The tavern was very accommodating for all age levels. Our experience was really positive and we WILL BE BACK !!! The model train going slowly around the perimeter above the seating definitely topped it off.

Really liked the place and loved creating my own burger with all the topping choices they have. But recently, they have been making a lot of tweaks, and unfortunately that has effected my enjoyment of the place. For some reason the fries are always soggy too.

Great food, great beers, great service!! Our waiter was super outgoing and friendly, and the sweet potato chips with cinnamon honey were pretty much life changing!! We got our burgers lettuce wrapped! Delish!!! I'll be back!!

Some of the worst food in ann arbor. I don't know how they stay open. Chips and fries were stale. Nachos were bad, I could do better in my house. Side salad was average. Nice atmosphere and the waitress was pleasant. Wouldn't return and wouldn't recommend to friends.

The waitress was very nice and did her job well. The establishment was way too cold. The food took too long to be prepared. It wasn't even busy. The chips and the sauce was excellent. The burger and the Mac and Cheese was sub par. I supposedly had a spicy burger which was a joke.

One of the better burger places in the area. Been here a few times and each time it gets better. Fries here are pretty good (similar to five guys) and the burgers are fantastic. Usually i build my own, and there are a whole lot of toppings and sauce. I would even venture to say more choices than say a five guys ( and better too). Also you must add on the fact that all they got is Michigan beers on tap (a plus). Over i personally think that this is one of the 3 best burger places in the Ypsilanti- arbor area (only blimpie and maybe great plains are better).

I am a huge Bagger Dave's fan. Each time I visit the food impresses me. The burgers are consistently well cooked, the topping varieties allow for multiple taste combinations, and the wrapping of the meat, bun, and toppings rarely disappoints. The mix and match sweet potato and regular French fries are great compliment to this fantastic burger. The staff is uniformly attentive and efficient, and the prices while just a bit high are spot on for the quality food and Michigan craft beers available. This bar has also been a great spot to watch football or catch a quick meal alone at the bar. On several occasions when my usual drinking crowd was otherwise engaged, or on my way to meet friends for drinks, I have grabbed a burger and beer at the bar and watched some sports. The bartenders do not neglect the patrons eating at the bar and I have been pleased at how un-pushy they are when I sit there for a few hours and only have a couple beers. Great spot for a quick meal alone or with friends.

So after a few minutes of driving because my GPS when out we finally found bagger Dave's which In actuality was not very hard to find at all. Free husband and I both ordered turkey burgers, He went with a large barbecue bacon burger with sweet potato chips and fries. I couldn't decide so I went with the create your own I had a small turkey burger on a wheat bun with sharp cheddar bacon mushrooms mayo and barbecue sauce. Honestly I was not expecting much out of a turkey burger in fact I was kind of nervous about trying it.... The food did not take long at all to make it our table, I was pleasantly surprised when I took my first bite it was not drive like I was assuming it would be yet it was juicy and had a great flavor I would actually order this thing again! Oh and I almost forgot the craft pops.....I'm a root beer snob and they actually had a pretty darn good root beer there :) Next time we are out in Ann Arbor this will definitely be a stop

I like this place. I think the build your own burger concept works for them. There are a ton of great options to choose from. For those that would rather just pick from a menu, that option is available as well. They've recently added new items. There are more options other than just burgers and have GLUTEN FREE options. They have a full bar and often feature local craft beers. They're always quick to correct any issues and go the extra mile to make sure that the customer is satisfied. My favorite bartender/server there is Stephanie. She is very efficient, knowledgable, understands what good customer service is, and perfectly balances professionalism with a bit of banter with the customer. Keep up the great work! I'd definitely recommend both Bagger Dave's and Stephanie.

This was my first time at Bagger Dave's and since it was my first time there, I watched and observed my friends on how to order. When you get the menu, you also get this sheet that is used to order your burger and fries. Now, I wasn't too hungry, so I settled on their new dish, Irish Nacho. Well, after what it felt like forever, our food came... really, we waited over 30 minute to get our food... the nacho was okay... it was made with thin sliced potato that was fried, topped with chili. yeah, I guess I wasn't sure what to expect... It was Friday night and busy... but next time I go, I'll try the burger and see if my experience changes.

Meh. I find myself unimpressed. Boring patty devoid of char or flavor. Still searching for "Crunchy's" of East Lansing style burger. Staff a bit slow to bring check. Took longer to get the check than to eat.

Maybe I was expecting more from Bagger Dave's. I finally had a chance to stop the other night and I have to say I was thoroughly disappointed. Bagger Dave's is a nice enough place. Clean, nice train for the kids to watch. The menu's look great. But then we go to our food. I ordered the Train Wreck Burger and my wife had a Bacon BBQ burger. The kids had grilled PB&J and grilled cheese. I expected a huge, great tasting burger and what did I get? A huge very tasteless burger. The meat was bland, it didn't even have a grilled flavor to it, the "special" sauce dripped off like it was water. I guess I don't get it. Same complaint from my wife. Although it was a Bacon BBQ burger, the bacon didn't stand out in the taste. As for the fries, they were mostly burnt, or do they refer to that as double fried? Nothing special there. We did like the sweet potato chips though, done real nice with a honey-cinnamon dipping sauce. Maybe I've become a hamburger snob, no make that anti-snob. I like them greasy, loaded with goodies and fully of taste. The higher up the food chain I go with hamburgers, the less I like them. Some day I may find the perfect burger, but not at Bagger Dave's.

NEVER again. This place takes all the worst aspects of fast food, and combines them with the worst aspects of a TGIFridays. We ordered the "sloppy fries" (chili-cheese fries) on the advice of our waiter. The "chili" was not warm enough to melt the cheese underneath, so the stringy cheddar was all knotted and ugly. The fries were old and oversalted. The burgers (I ordered turkey, my wife beef) were tasteless. I guess the idea is to drown them in one of the sauces, but you'd think that they would taste like something besides (questionable) ground meat. They were also lukewarm at best. Service was enthusiastic but incompetent. Waiting 15 minutes for what is no more than a fast food burger and fries. It seems he remembered us only after I gave him the stinkeye from across the room. Ditto for getting the check...and paying for the check. I tipped him (lightly) because the main reason I was upset (the food) was not his fault. You can do much better at a Burger King drive through.

I saw this place on a run to Moe's (the Ann Arbor one is superior to the Allen Park one) and I had to try it. We decided to meet my parents there and try a variety of food. Before we went I had my mother join their eClub as her birthday is coming up soon. She recieved a free bowl of chili for joining and I will update and share what they give for a birthday or an anniversary as they ask for both dates. Bagger Daves is a simple concept, burgers with a bazillion toppings and fries and things you can make using products you stock for those two things. It is an unassuming place apparently with a train theme, I didn't notice much of it but they do have a train that runs along the middle divider. It is strictly casual and very kid friendly. A big warning is they serve peanut butter as well as fry everything in peanut oil so if you have nut allergies I would not stop in. We waited for a table for about 10 minutes on a Saturday night, not too bad. A regular burger here is two 3.5 oz patties and starts at $4.49 for beef. You can get a small with just one patty, turkey burgers and Gardenburger black bean burgers as options. There is a small sandwich selection; Sloppy BBQ, Grilled Cheese, Grilled Egg, California BLT and two peanut butter options. There are a few different salads (Garden, Cobb or Caesar) which are available with two hamburger or two turkey burger patties for 2.00 which is nice. Sides include the Turkey Black Bean Chili, Belgian twice fried style Idaho Potato Fries and Dave's Sweet Potato Chips. The Sweet Potato Chips come with either a honey, cinnamon and sea salt mixture or a honey mustard sauce and are tasty with either. The fries are not as spectacular as I hoped, a bit chewy and stale. My mom liked them but she dipped them in a bunch of chipotle ranch. The chili was excellent with some cheese, sour cream and onion added, really amazing for turkey chili, very hearty and beef like. I had a double burger with mozzarella, two different types of lettuce, basil, tomato, onion (fresh and sauteed), mushrooms and a bit of balsamic vinaigrette. It did not need the nice plain bun. Absolutely delicious. My husband had the Bacon BBQ Burger on Honey Wheat minus the grilled onions and was quite pleased. He said the BBQ matched nicely with the sharp cheddar. My father ate a basic bacon sharp cheddar burger on sesame with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle and mayo. He said it was much better than he expected as he had feared pre-pressed patties and dryness. These are hand formed and juicy. My mom went for the baby single burger with just about every veggie topping and raved about the Honey Wheat bun, my husband agreed with her on that score. Overall we were fairly impressed. Decent service, good burgers, nice sides. They have desserts here. Like the rest of the items, very straightforward. Shakes with ice cream or yogurt with plenty of mix in options, Ice Cream Sundaes, Root Beer Float, Brownie or Cookie (chocolate chip or sugar). If you are looking for variety you will not find it here but if you are looking for tasty burgers and fried fun then give it a whirl. I have now been here several times. Great service in but I have gotten to go burgers for my husband four times now and every time they have forgotten the bacon on it, Weird.

I am not a burger-lover, but my husband is and I conceded to try it. Really good burgers! I was surprised. I love the layout of the menu. I wish they offered a frew more choices for those who don't want salad or a burger, like appetizers, but I liked what I ordered. Service was spotty but if you can get their attention for a refill, they are super nice. when we were seated, it wasn't busy, but became slammed 10 minutes later, and on a Black Friday afternoon. Interesting. I would go again, if my kids or husband really wanted to go again.

I give it three stars. The food is pretty good, pretty consistent, but the service is always so so. They always seem to be missing something. This time, there were no napkins on the table. I imagine they are thinking there is no food, so why do you need napkins, but when drinks are served with kids...well you get the idea. And when something is spilled, it is ridiculous to beg for napkins. We eat there, but certainly not my favorite.

Love this joint! Such a popular spot to grab a bite, it can get crowded at times, but I love it anyway. The train riding around, the old timy photos, the friendly and courteous staff-- it just shows they actually care about the community they are serving. Love stopping by here. Great also for pick-up orders, if you call in Sometimes they have trouble with on-line orders.

Recently took a risk by having a party of 12 people meet there for dinner; most had never been. Despite the big party, the server was very friendly and attentive; took lots of time to explain the burger-building process. Burgers were good; sweet potato chips were very good. Bell's Oberon on-tap when we visited. As others have observed, the volume level is a little high. We liked the train, which fits into the overall theme/decor, and we also sat near two families with small children. I noticed that the staff was very accommodating of the little kids in their parties. Price was extremely reasonable. It's probably tough to have a sit-down waiter-service meal for less money.

Awesome burgers! Great service and oneof the nicer looking restaurant interiors in town. I don't get why this place doesn't get more customers, there were only about 5 of us when I came in. But then again, I came in around 1 pmon a Wednesday. Must be the location, it's on the opposite end of a lonely little strip mall across from always bustling Panera Bread. The train on a track right above you is a cool little treat, though.

This is a favorite lunch spot in Ann Arbor. The service is great, but its often hard to find a parking spot in the lot as it gets really busy, and there aren't many spots. I love the turkey burgers and milkshakes

The burgers are great! I'm especially fond of the Santa Fe Chipotle--it has the perfect amount of zing. The service is good, and they have a great selection of local brews. My only complaint is the spicy artichoke dip. I was surprised to see it was a very small portion, served cold, and with unreasonably large chunks of artichoke. Overall, stick to the burgers and beer.

I didn't think I'd like this place, but I do -- decent burgers: both beef and turkey varieties, with loads of options. I also like all the Ann Arbor historical photos that line the walls - a nice touch, and while they have big screens with sports on - it's not loud or annoying (at least, if you go early...) I like to do the build-your-own when we visit, with my fave being: turkey burger, chipotle' sauce, cheddar, raw onions, guacamole, romaine lettuce, tomato on a sesame bun (comes to around $7) Fries are decent, not too greasy, and usually piping-hot when they come to the table. I do not like their salads...are boring, rather flavorless, and smothered in cheese *bleh!* You can't beat the price (unless you do McD's etc.) and the staff are nice without being annoying. Nutshell: it's a decent place for a quick bite (esp. when tired and you don't want to cook) but nothing spectacular. Decent rotating tap of local beers.

Five of us entered A2 Bagger Dave's for my birthday out @ about 8 PM on a Wednesday. Light customers - the staff was friendly & courteous. The burgers are only cooked one way - medium well. Mine was ok, but not very flavorful & way over-cooked for my taste. If it had been a steak, the meat would have either curled up @ both ends or requested last rites. The Idaho fries were plump & tasty; the cottage fries were a little over-cooked for my taste - the double fried fries were not to my liking. The fries were lukewarm when they arrived @ the table. This was true of all five diners in the group; it was as if they had been cooked earlier and left under a warming lamp untl we arrived. The 3 girls ordered sloppy fries and the cheese topping didn't melt a bit. Our taste buds were anticipating delightfully hot fries & tasteful food as one of the group had experienced @ the store's BD Novi location 2 weeks earlier. We were incredibly disappointed with the outing.

I was expecting good things, but unfortunately the day my dad and I tried this restaurant was the same day they were having problems with the sink. It smelled like sewage. At first, we thought maybe we were just smelling it cause we were in a certain area. Then we moved and it was just as bad. I couldn't enjoy the food much because of the horrible smell. I'm pretty sure the bathroom smelled way better than the dining area. I assume this only happens once in a blue moon. The waiter apologized many times, and was understanding about the situation. It's hard to fault the business for something that probably wasn't under their control, but I will have to come back and try it again. All I remember is that the burgers were a good size. They weren't as tasty as I thought they'd be, but again, I could have just been distracted. Will post another review when I get back there.

I've been to this place a couple of times, now. It's one of those pricier upscalier burger joints. I get turkey burgers and was happy to find they offer them. The burgers were good, as were the fries. Neither were as good as what I compare them to; Great Plains, on the north side of town. However, the ambiance is much nicer. It's warm and inviting. One even becomes accustomed to the electric train cruising The staff was efficient and pleasant. The big selling point for me, however, is that the serve beer. Michigan micro-brews, at that.

Still serving up tasty, fresh, burgers. The only thing that can be hit or miss is the fries. Sometimes they are really hot and delicious and other times they have been cold and soggy. When the fries are good it's 5 stars when not, 4. Still prefer Bagger's to Great Plains or Quickie, about on the level of a good 5 Guys burger

I ran into Bagger Dave's when the fiance was craving a burger and fries after our bi-weekly trip to Ann Arbor. Expecting a fast food style joint, I was mildly surprised when I realized it was a sit down restaurant. We were greeted warmly by the server and was seated right away. Luckily, we were there on a Tuesday afternoon so business was pretty slow. Because it was Tuesday, $1 was taken off each regular burger (2 patties). They have a pretty decent selection of burgers with the option of building your own, adding $0.80 for a piece of cheese and $1 for additional toppings like bacon and a fried egg (yum). For an additional $2 something, you get a small side of fries and sweet potato chips. We got our food shortly after filling out the small piece of paper with our order. I don't know if it was because we were starving, but the burger tasted delicious. It definitely wasn't the most flavorful meat I've ever had, but the grilled onions and mushrooms were done ever so perfectly. The fries and potato chips were meh. The former could've used a little more time in the fryer, and the chips were a bit too thin and tasteless. For 2 burgers and 2 sides, our bill came out to a mere $16.30. Not bad, but I don't think I'd go back again.

What the heck is that smell??? Talk about the smell factor, this one totally sucks! I feel very ill. I have to go against the grain on this review, but will try this place again once the place airs out. REALLY. First the bad smell - It smelled like sewage. I thought maybe I stepped in some dog sh*t or something. We moved our seats three times. It didn't matter. After complaining to the waiter he apologized, he said that they were having a problem in the sinks in the back. My only conclusion is that they had a back up in the grease pit and had to clean it out. AFTER WORK please next time. The food - Very difficult to get a feeling on this one because of the smell. The burgers were a lot like Jaws Jumbo in Farmington Hills yelp.com/biz/jaws-jumbo-… . The burger was as I liked it since I filled out the food request. Just not as good as Jaws. The fries were my favorite style of fries, double-fried, Belgian style dipped in ranch dressing. The only problem was they were cold...not even warm. This was an all around bad experience and meal and one that I will change at a future date once I give it a try again. Should be a one star but it has potential.

Soo, As much as I hate the corporate chain joints, I decided to check this place out. I do have to say , I was digging the local feel of the place and the service was great. Friendly and prompt servers were a plus. I filled out the Create your own burger checklist and made quite an amazing burger. They have quite a range of toppings and sauces you can choose. Top it off with some of their tasty fries and you cant lose. All in all , Very decent place for what it is, but if you are in Ann Arbor Seeking a good Burger, hit up some of the local flair.

I've been to Bagger Dave's a few times and must say, if you're in the mood for a good burger but don't want to feel like you've lost 4 years off your life after eating one (like Blimpy Burgers...my favorite burger joint), this is a great place to go. The burgers are large, fresh, and easily customizable. The prices are great and they have $1 Off burgers on Tuesdays. I have never been impressed with their service, however. The restaurant has never been busy when I've gone but the servers are not attentive and extremely slow. I've never felt like I'm getting any sort of "service" - it's more of a feeling of "oh, you're actually paying us money to be here? I thought you're getting paid to be here, sitting and eating the food...like we are!"

I wanted a burger today. I've tried many places in town, but had yet to try Bagger Dave's. After researching BD's on yelp and getting somewhat mixed feelings, I decided to just give it a shot anyways. I think what other reviewers might have said was true at once, but it seems like they have things in order now. I got a burger to go and service was prompt and friendly (despite showing up at lunchtime when they were really busy), the food was relatively cheap considering how much stuff I putt on my burger. The sweet potato chips are incredible though. They were slightly "soggy" as one other reviewer put it, but I think it's by design. I could eat several order and still want more. It's worth trying for sure and I plan to add it to my burger lineup for when nothing else will suffice.

This place has one "plus" and it's that the burgers are very good. You can get a ton of toppings on them, they're quite cheap (though the fries are a ton extra $) and the burgers themselves are cooked well and still juicy, which is impressive. Sadly, in A2 it's just not that hard to find a good burger like this, and I can't stand the inside of the place, so I'm not sure if I'll be back again. It feels like I'm in a crappy Red Robin (which is crappy enough as it is), bright lights are shining down on you from above, some of them flickering really quickly where you feel like a seizure might be coming on, and I just never felt comfortable sitting in there. I also need a plate, people. I mean seriously. I feel bad for Bagger Dave's because in any other place I'd put up with this crap to get a good burger like that, but here, I'm off to blimpie, quickie, sidetracks, blue tractor, ashley's, or a number of other places before I'm back at Bagger Dave's.

The burgers here are amazing! The staff is awesome. Great atmosphere. Definitely one of my favorite places to get a burger in AA. If you haven't been to Bagger Dave's you need to give it a try. I recommend dinner, when you can get a beer to go with!!

Stopped by when all of Main St was one way going South after a football game, and I wanted to go North. Considering my circumstances, I felt like it was a good choice after being Panera'd out. Nevertheless, I was surprised to go into a Michigan bar that was called a tavern, where they only had 3 beers on tap (none of which were Oberon in early October). Server was nice, but knew nothing about beer. Burgers were greasy, but then again it was a burger. Soggy bread didn't help Didn't realize the fries were double fried, so I didn't like those. Should have read the reviews. Overall, I would probably choose Panera in the future.

My gut instinct with burger joints is to avoid them at all costs, but we were out on Eisenhower a few months ago and didn't feel like coney island food, chain food, or dropping $15 at the Whole Foods hot bar. So we figured we check this place out. I liked it enough to go back again, and the second time 'round I liked it even more. The gimmick behind Bagger Dave's is that it has a build-your-own burger menu. I don't eat meat, and I was kind of surprised that "black bean veggie burger" was an option. It's hard to order veggie burgers around town w/o getting charged an arm and a leg to add extra toppings, so I liked that I could pile the crap on as much as I wanted. I'm not 100% sure the veggie burger itself wasn't store bought, but after all the various toppings, I didn't care. But the real reason I'm lovin' on this place is the french fries! They're my new favorites. They also have orgasmic sweet potato chips. The place has a "A2 throughout history" vibe with neat old photos framed on the walls. There's also a train that goes around the restaurant Family Buggy style. Yeah, it's kind of loud and annoying, but so are college kids, and thankfully there are none of those here. Both times I've gone on a Friday or Saturday for lunch and the clientele seemed to be mostly retiree couples. One last thing--they have Oberon on tap, which is always the first sign of a good restaurant in MI. .

While we are new to the Ann Arbor area, this is definitely our favorite place to eat so far. The number of topping options for burgers and fries can be a bit overwhelming and I have made a burger that wasn't quite to my liking, but for the most part you can make a burger that is delicious and completely to your liking. The sweet potato fries are fantastic (especially with their strange honey mustard dip) and the normal fires are also not too shabby.

Probably my favorite place in town to get a tasty, juicy turkey burger. Tuesdays are $1 off any of their specialty or make-your-own burgers. Not a bad deal for a customized big burger for around $5. They also have a 10% off discount when you present your U of M ID. They have other nice perks, like a frequent lunch punch card or something, and happy hour during the week. The (belgian) fries CAN be good; however, they are not consistently good. Sometimes soggy, sometimes not fresh tasting, sometimes seemingly overcooked. Usually small. The turkey chili is pretty good, though I don't know if the extra toppings they charge for (cheese + raw onions) are worth it. This will be my go-to place for a turkey burger until I find something better.

I had the train wreck burger, which comes with a fried egg, french fries, cheddar, sauteed mushrooms and onions, lettuce, and "railhouse burger sauce" on a beef patty. The quality of the beef, bun, and egg were fine, but there were too many downsides. There were maybe three fries in the sandwich. The mushrooms and onions had been chopped into oblivion and kept falling out of the burger, as did the lettuce, which was shredded. The railhouse sauce was a bland mayo or thousand island or something. I got the sweet potato chips on the side. These were soggy. My sister got a vanilla milkshake that I thought was on the thin side.

My husband and I very rarely eat out alone, so our restaurant visits are limited to places that are kid-friendly (we have two, ages 2 and 5). Noodles is one of our faves, and we sometimes hit up Red Robin for burgers. After our second visit tonight, it's safe to say that Bagger Dave's has replaced Red Robin for us. Thank goodness! For the grownups - a bar (beer!) and several flat-screen TVs showing sports. A menu featuring burgers (turkey, lean beef, and veggie), a couple of types of fries, a few salads, and chili should please most folks. Pictures of old Ann Arbor and dark wood booths make for a homey, local atmosphere. For the kids - a smart yet simple kids menu w/o a hotdog or deep-fried chicken nugget in sight; banana as a side option; a model train that runs on a track along the wall to keep them entertained. Tonight my husband ordered the Train Wreck and devoured it - his only comment was that he'd ask for A-1 sauce next time. I had the Sloppy Dave sandwich (a big, sloppy-joe style sandwich made with turkey), which was pretty good and a nice alternative to a traditional burger. We split an order of fries. The kids had a grilled pb&j (the 5 yr old) and a grilled cheese (the 2 yr old), one with fries on the side and the other with a banana. Both had plain milk, we had water/iced tea. The kids ate well and enjoyed their meals. I think Bagger Dave's was designed to appeal to people like us who dine out with small kids but still want a grown-up feeling place to eat (if I never see a Chuck E Cheese again, it'll be too soon). It's very relaxed, there's enough background noise to drown out your own kids' occasional shriek, and the servers were very nice. Our server was cheerful, attentive, and kind, as was the woman who brought out our order. Whatever service problems they've had in the past, we've not had any problems in our two visits. Even if you don't have kids, I like the place for burgers -- where else in town can you get a good turkey burger??? But if you do have kids, this place should be on your go-to list.

Pleasantly surprised! The black bean burger was moist and not over-cooked (something most burger joints can't seem to get right) and the Santa Fe chipotle sauce made the meal! Sweet potato chips were prepared without spices and sauces, which I love - you can actually taste the sweet potato! The train was great entertainment for all children in the restaurant. Just an FYI: if you order the kid's meal, root beer is extra (even though the menu states that a soft drink of your choice is included in the "kids meal" price).

The good: - They're open reasonably late (11PM on Friday/Saturday). - They have quite a few options for burger toppings, and many of them are free. - The burgers overall are pretty inexpensive - you can get a burger with a LOT of different things on it for $6-7. - Nearly infinite parking. The bad: - The burgers aren't that amazing. I mean, they're not bad, but they're not anything special. Overall, I'd say Bagger Dave's is worth visiting if you want a burger and your only other options are fast food, because it's definitely better than that. But I'd recommend covering your burger in about a million toppings, otherwise it'll probably be pretty disappointing. Also, note that this is a sit-down place, although they do also offer carry out. But you will have a server, and you will leave a tip.

Stopped here by chance, we were going to the Panera Bread, but the desire for a Burger overcame us. I had the Turkey Chipotle burger - It was REALLY good. I also had the sweet potato chips with honey adobe dip. The service was great and I would recommend this place to anyone. The only down side was a bloody noisy train that does laps around the restaurant and drowns out your conversation every couple of minutes.

Thanks to other yelpers for giving me confidence about this place, whose unfamiliar name and odd location had prevented us visiting. Two great things about this place: Choices, and Chips. Choices mean you can decide whether you have a beef, turkey, or black bean veggie burger, and you can decide how many patties. Then you have a choice of bun, cheese, sauces, and numerous toppings, everything from a fried egg to green olives. I found the patties undersized for the bun, but the toppings put me in a forgiving mood. As for the chips, I'm talking about the sweet potato fries, which are cut potato-chip thin and fried in peanut oil to perfection. You may find yourself defending your stash against theft from your tablemates if they didn't order some for themselves. They've got sandwiches on the menu, too--including a fried egg sandwich, which I haven't seen on a menu in ages and am definitely ordering on a future visit. Kids may enjoy the train running around near the ceiling. Definitely family-friendly, and not too pricey. This is a "chain" restaurant but right now has only two locations. I predict that will change. We'll definitely be back.

We were in town for a Michigan basketball game and wanted a non-fast food place to eat at before heading back to Chicago. My brother was in the mood for a burger place, so we decided to give Bagger Dave's a try. We were greeted warmly and seated right away. Our waiter Zach was phenomenal! He was very attentive to our needs and was there whenever we needed him...plus he seemed to enjoy his job, so everything you would want in a waiter! The menu is pretty straight forward, but if you like to be creative with your burgers, use the order sheet at the table and create your own burger. My brother and I wanted to try peanut butter on our burgers and man we were not disappointed...yummy! My mom and I also ordered a bowl of the chili. It was flavorful but came out lukewarm. The sweet potato chips were awesome! If you are looking for a unique place to eat at and you like burgers, give Bagger Dave's a try...and ask for Zach...you won't be disappointed!

I hate to rain on the parade, but Bagger Dave's isn't all its been Yelped up to be. Today being my 'second chance' visit, I figured I would have enough insight into the experience to help Bagger Dave not make the same mistakes twice. Although BRIEFLY tempted to try one of their 'Famous' burgers (BRIEFLY until I was reminded that they murder all burgers medium well), I chose to reserve my Weight Watcher points (jk) for dinner and order a handful of turkey burgers - three doubles to be exact. The variety of available toppings is appreciated although I must admit a little over-blown (e.g. why offer iceberg if you're gonna offer romaine?). Its commendable to recognize the customers' preferences, however TOO wide of a variety of options often leaves me wondering: Are the owners trying not to exclude me from the experience or do they lack their own sensibilities regarding what flavors layer best? Granted Bagger Dave's DOES have a list of 'Specialty Burgers', all of which were predictable versions of the Build-Your-Own. Don't get me wrong, its nice to have a selection of mustards to choose from, however I don't think that honey mustard qualifies as a 'premium' topping (black truffle infused mustard perhaps). BOTTOM LINE ON THE TOPPINGS: Its nice to be able to customize my order, however truly amazing burgers should be AMAZING with no toppings at all. After denoting my topping selections, I made sure to let the waitress know that my last visit left me butterfingered, politely asking her to see if Bagger Dave could griddle me up some burgers with a little less grease... ...twenty-odd minutes later and a few chance glances towards the kitchen... ...I was immediately reminded that the buns come buttered, rendering my steel grip useless as my toppings slowly dripped into the cuff of my sweatshirt. The turkey itself is ok. Unlike most ground turkey patties the pack density of the turkey patties isn't overly compact. The honey wheat buns are a good alternative to standard white hamburger bread and I like the pickle on the side. I didn't order any deep fried accoutrements as I'm trying to keep an eye on my figure - perhaps they would have absorbed my burgers' drippings better than the basket liner did. I finished 2/3 of my order before my Bagger Dave's Build-Your-Own Stomach Ache arrived, and bagged up my last burger for my pre-gym snack. Price was reasonable although definitely not what I would consider a steal by any means. Lastly, I stumbled upon some Bagger Dave's Burger Club cards: "Buy 6 Specialty or Build-Your-Own burgers, Get 1 Free." I bought 3 BYO burgers but got snubbed by the waitress. Something about "...only two stamps per card per customer." Yeah, I don't understand it either. Whatever...its Bagger Dave's not Beggar Dave's...I'll stamp that sh*t myself = P

The burgers here are actually pretty good, I enjoy filling out the card with all my preferred toppings. I've had both the beef and the turkey, and both were equally tasty. It's never too crowded here, and service is generally friendly. Unfortunately, the fries can be really good, but sometimes they're too soggy. And nothing is sadder than soggy fries. Also disappointing was the ice cream sundae.... just not enough of the right toppings. The last time I got one was early in the summer... so I don't recall exactly what was wrong with it, but I do remember being disappointed. In any case, this is a good place to grab a burger and a beer if you're looking to avoid the downtown madness (football saturdays, friday nights). 3.5 stars

Amazing burgers with fantastic toppings like olives, guac, jalapenos, even fries. They changed their fries recently to make them shoe string, soggy fries so that was a bit disappointing but otherwise a solid choice, though a bit over priced for Ann Arbor - my husband and I drop $25 minimum each time we're here.

The first question you should ask yourself before heading to Bagger Dave's is: "Would I still be going there if the name of the restaurant was "Diversified Restaurant Holdings, Inc.?" If that bothers you, then don't head that direction. If you're okay with that, and you're in the neighborhood, AND you want a hamburger and some wifi, then come on in. If you're looking for healthy fare, or a genuine local Ann Arbor experience, then skip it. The burger was tasty, I don't mind saying. And the waitress warmed up after about 20 minutes on initial sullen behavior. (our walking in the front door greeting: "Hi, should we seat ourselves?" "yeah, if you want to.") The décor was good, (for a corporate monolith trying to appear natural and indiginous.). Much more understated than a TGIFriday's or an Aplebees. I ALMOST FORGOT TO WARN YOU ABOUT THE TRAIN. This, along with the plastic serving plates takes the place down from three stars to two. They have a surprisingly loud model train that circles the seating area incessantly. It's cute to look at, but it sounds like a rainstorm under a metal roof. This could drive some people insane, it is surely an attempt to turn the tables rapidly. If you want a "local" tavern, try CASEY's by the train station. If you want to eat out on the edge of town, go to METZGER'S, who have relocated out there not far from Bagger Dave's a few years ago.

This place has the best burgers ever! Seriously, this joint gives Crazy Jim's Blimpy Burger a run for their money. I don't know why there are not more Bagger Dave's around...it is a chain that is owned by Buffalo Wild Wings, so if you like B-dubs and burgers, you are bound to like this place. You can custom order your burgers and pile on an array of toppings, if you wish. If you are going healthy, the turkey burger is also very tasty. Their fries and sweet potato chips are really good, too. The waitstaff was friendly and the decor is old Ann Arbor memorbilia such as Main Street a hundred years ago, which I had never seen, very interesting.

Great food, good price. My only quibble is that it took a bit longer than it should have to seat us. I was there with a friend and the restaurant wasn't that busy, yet we waited in the doorway for 5 minutes. Still, the burger and fries were excellent. I'll definitely be back. Once we were seated, our service was great.

I am shocked at how bad my burger was. It was more disgusting than what I imagine a deep fried raccoon spleen would taste like. I got the BBQ Bacon burger and french fries for carryout one afternoon. The burger was so greasy and the lettuce wasnt fully dried, so the bun was soggy and squishy. The beef patties had no flavor other than grease, and they were light in color. The bag of fries was only 2/3 full and the fries werent even remotely fresh. Its not like i was late to pick up my food either. In the end, i threw most of it away, and I hate wasting food. It was not edible whatsoever though. I get sick thinking about it.

I was taken to this place by a co-worker and I would say the burgers are pretty good. they have the speciality stuff and also full choice burgers. I made my own burger the way I wanted to so it was good. I also got the speciality fries with extra toppings and that was a bad choice. Too greazzzzyyyy.... Pass on it

Yum! Great place for an interesting burger, especially for those who find traditional burgers underwhelming. As a vegetarian, I always grab a veggie bleack bean burger complete with guac and pico de gallo, while my significant other enjoys a turkey burger. The sweet potato chips with original sauces and chocolate malts are also good. Unhealthy? Yes. Delicious? Also yes.

This is an order-your-own-style burger place which offers a wide variety of toppings for burgers and fries. We were dismayed to see no garlic options on the menu for either the burgers or fries -- we love garlic parmesan fries -- but there were ample possibilities. The burgers come in (nearly) quarter pound patties, with the regular being almost half pound. We ordered two burgers and one thing of regular idaho style french fries. The burger meat was flavorless and bland, but the rest of the burger was nice. The fries are "belgium fair style," which means they are blackened and soggy. Gross. We could have gotten 'sloppy fries' which is an excuse to cover up the gross greasy mess with other ingredients, in order to hide the nasty fries. Things tasted half-way decent, until we noticed the ANTS crawling on our table! Please stay away from this place.

I went into Bagger Dave's tonight to try the burgers. A guy in the kitchen looked like a guy named Larry L. who owes me $50. Larry lives in Chicago and is a nurse, but seeing this cook made my blood boil. I will never eat here unless they fire the man who looks like the man who owes me my money or Larry finally pays up! I would not recommend this place to anyone for the same reason. Boo to you Bagger Dave's!

I'm a big fan of having options, and not being ashamed about being picky or wanting specific things on your burger. Which is why I like Bagger Dave's. It's basically a build-a-burger restaurant, you choose the pattie (beef, turkey, non-meat, etc), the type of bun, and any fixin' you want. I wasn't overwhelmed with joy when I ate the burger, but it was good, although they are little skimpy on some of their add-ons, and their fries were pretty tasty too. It's definitely a kid-friendly, family place, but that doesn't mean single people can't enjoy a decent burger at a reasonable price here.

If Blimpy Burger and Potbelly had a child....that yummy, greasy baby would be Bagger Dave's. The gimmick is the crazy custom burger. The decor is kitschy sandwich shop-py. It's a super-casual sit-down joint with table service. Oh, and they have beer and wine. Details: The menu: -You can choose from a variety of "pre-built" burgers or other sandwiches (fried egg sandwich, peanut butter and banana, grilled cheese, etc.) or salads, or build your own. -Unlike Blimpy, they offer a turkey burger and black bean veggie burger in addition to ground beef. The price point: -Huzzah! It seems so cheap! Burgers in the $5 and $6 range? At a sit-down restaurant (even a super casual one?). You just don't see that much any more. Take note, though--fries are not included, and adding them on is $2-$3. Well worth it (you get ALOT--definitely could share an order), and the meal overall is still a great value. -The service: Our waiter was named Branden (with an "e") and was your classic cheery friendly waiter-type (minus the flair). When SK ordered the fries and I ordered the sweet potato chips, friendly Branden pointed out that we could save a few bucks by ordering the "mix-n-match" one of each thing. Thanks! The atmosphere: -Seems a little bit not at ease with itself. Is this a burger joint? A sandwich shop? A diner? Bennigan's? They don't seem quite sure. You can see the short order cooks too clearly for it to really be a restaurant-restaurant. But they have a hostess, a bar and table service. -The electric train is a cute touch, and the old-timey photos are actually of Ann Arbor and come from UM's Bentley Historical Library. Yay! But how did it taste? - I had the beef, Sam had the turkey. They grill up a very-decent-but-nothing-mind-blowing beef burger, and a much-better-than-average turkey burger (juicy and flavorful!) -SK went custom while I tried the "train wreck" burger from the menu. This is clearly a novelty item--the burger has cheese, bacon, sauteed onions and mushrooms, a fried egg, and....french fries. On it. A triumph to be able to say I consumed it, I suppose, but all those toppings didn't necessarily bring much to the table. As it were. -The sweet potato chips were a bit of a let down. They were like the butterfly chips you pay $6 for at Art Fair. Only the Art Fair ones are worth $6, and these were a bit of a disappointment. Mine were a bit soggy and just didn't really taste like anything. -Special sauces: I tried the special honey-cinnamon-sea-salt dipping sauce for my chips and wasn't thrilled. It tasted oddly floral--which probably means it was good quality honey (not from the plastic bear). But it also meant I felt like I was dipping my chips in shower gel. Next time I'd try the honey mustard (although I suppose the same problem might apply, eh?). SK liked the special house chipotle sauce on his burger and for his fries. All in all--I'll definitely go back, though I'll probably try something different next time. A solid, inexpensive meal that beats out its neighbors (Panera and Moe's Southwest Cafe) in that plaza.

So this is my second visit to Bagger Dave's. My husband partakes weekly, so I secretly think the place is named for him. My first visit was with my husband and 3-year old son. It was part of our "date night with the big boy." He wanted a big boy burger and fries. I wanted something more memorable. Bagger Dave's did not disappoint. I had the Tuscan Burger. Honestly, I can't tell you what was on it, but it was good. Tonight, I had a hankering for a burger (which is a rarity for me unless I'm pregnant!) My husband says "Bagger Dave's!" I'm in. We schlep the 45 minutes there to meet the in-laws and didn't have to wait for a table to seat the 6 of us. "Great," I'm thinking. I was premature in my kudos for this trip. (Now, remember, my husband frequents this establishment weekly.) I ask my husband to order drinks for us and take the 3-year old to the restroom. Hmmm, no server yet. We wait a few more minutes. We have to track down a server. Blah, blah, apologies, ok. We all order and all seems well. Except we were there for nearly an hour and still no food. We had to find someone to get us refills and I asked to speak to the manager. Basically, our server avoided us like the plague while other parties had been seated, eaten, and left before we had our meals. (We were visiting with the in-laws, so the time went quickly.) I give a major high-five to the manager. He apologized, comped our meal, and, most importantly, assigned us a new server. Our new server was fantastic. They made it up to us, we left happy and with full bellies, and I know we'll be back. Moral of the story...food is great, they made a mistake and fixed it. I respect that and can't wait for my next burger craving.

4 stars for a reliable burger place with great dipping sauces, good topping options and tasty fries/chips... and a reasonable price point. Also a plus, if you're dining with a 2 year old, is the train running around the ceiling and the coloring book/crayons provided.

This is much better than I expected it to be. It fills a nice niche between drive through fast food and your "gourmet" $10 burger. You can increase the number of patties in your burger to accommodate your hunger and select from an array of toppings, much like certain other burger places on Division, but nobody will yell at you that you are saying them in the wrong order (nothing against Blimpy's; it's delicious, but sometimes I'm too fragile for that kind of pressure). I am a fan of twice-fried handcut potatoes, and the sweet potato chips are good too. When you dine in you're presented with your own personal order form that you can fill out with as much detail as you can stand, excellent for people who are extremely picky or have burger OCD. I've been a few times for lunch, where we were usually served in a totally reasonable amount of time for a working lunch hour. I have also had take out once, and the burgers and fries made the 5-10 minute trip home in good condition. Oh, and there's a little train running over your heads.

Soooo sad. I read the reviews and thought I'd find a new spot to frequent. Nope. It was merely ok. I couldn't think of one food item that stood out. I had a burger and both types of fries. The meat was not flavorful and the avocado slices I got on it were way under ripened (read: hard and tasteless). I was hoping but alas, Blimpy is still king.

We live within walking distance of the new Bagger Dave's and have tried it three times and gotten take out once. The first time was openeing day, and the last time, the night before last. And although - aside from typical opening day issues, we thought Bagger Dabe's had promise. I think after this week's meal, they've finally hit their stride. Wow! Yummy! The burgers are juicy and have many creative free or inexpensive toppings - you order everything *your* way. The milkshakes were delicious - rich and thick. The service was excellent. But the best thing about Bagger Dave's are the sweet potato chips! Gorgeouly ornage and crisp-chewy, they are served with a honey-cinnamon-pepper-sea salt dip on the side that will knock your socks off! I'm not a french fry or potato chip person, but wow - I dream of these!

I think things must've improved. My husbnd is super picky and he wants to go there all the time. The burgers are really excellent and you can get so many things on them -- and things like grilled onions and olives are free! There is chipotle sauce and a bunch of other offerings that make the taste very special. And you can get more than one sauce, just ask. The sweet potato chips with honey sauce are amazing. The fries are twice cooked and the adults in our family like them, kids not so much. The train going around the restaurant up high is fun. I have had the turkey BBQ and it was good even though I don't like turkey. I want to try the fried egg sandwich and the pb&j with banana but I love the burgers so much it is hard to change! Our service has been good, albeit a little slow at times. They make up for it with endless refills and will even talk video games with my middle school son! My husband liked the chili fries.

Unhealthy? Yes. Delicious? Also yes.

3.5 stars

Pass on it

4 stars for a reliable burger place with great dipping sauces, good topping options and tasty fries/chips... and a reasonable price point. Also a plus, if you're dining with a 2 year old, is the train running around the ceiling and the coloring book/crayons provided.

    (2)
  • Marie L.

    (3)
  • Mary D.

Very disappointing. The waitress flat out forgot one of our two entrees. And when the the first one arrived it was cold. When a burger, fries, and soda costs $14, you ought to get what you order, and it ought to be, as the sign by the door put it in large text, "fresh and hot." Seriously they had a poster decrying microwaves but served lukewarm food.

    (2)

The burger was what I was looking for and hit the spot. The mac n cheese decent, not the best I've had but good attempt. Beer, cold and refreshing. Service, very good!
